   Launch into the deep

(Luke 5:2-6)  Part 2 of 2

Pastor (Mrs.) Christy Ogbeide

BBA and MA(Counseling)

Jesus cares and shows up when we have done all we can and nothing seem to be working out.  Our Savior is willing and ready to carry our heavy burdens, pains and problems.  Simon found himself in a hopeless situation and Jesus showed up and intervened.

Jesus was walking along the seaside and he saw afar two ships standing at the shore of the lake: vs. 2, “. but the fishermen has gone out of them, and were washing their nets.”  They had probably given up because they had toiled all night and caught nothing.

So, they went to wash their net, probably thinking what a fruitless night.  Lest, the know that the best was yet to come.

Jesus showed up at the scene at this time and entered into one of the ship that belong to Simon.  God almighty will visit you today and deal with your problems in Jesus name. Amen. He sat down and taught the people about the kingdom of God.  Simon and the fishermen properly did not realize that despite their failure that they still had something in their hands that Jesus could use for the kingdom. God asked Moses what is that in your hand? he said a rod, and God told him stretch it out and he did and the Red Sea divided. Let us pray: Dear Jesus, take my life and all that belong to me and use it for your glory. Amen.

The day continued after Jesus finished speaking to the people, He turned around, rewarded them.  He said to Simon “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a draughts (for a great catch).”  In the deep you will find your blessing and miracle awaits you.  But you have to make a move and act on God given faith. Knowing that because you serve the Lord and allow Him to take over your life and properties for the use of the Kingdom, He will not allow you to go empty handed.  Jesus knows about all your problems. He is willing to carry you through, so, do not give up. He will deliver you and turn your trials and temptation into testimony.

Are you a worker in the house of the Lord? Are you working faithfully without complaining and murmuring?   Is your home been used for fellowship?  Are you making your self, car, talents, gifts, money, properties etc available for the work of the kingdom? You will be greatly rewarded in Jesus Name. (Hebrew 6:10).   Just launch out and receive your blessings already prepared for you.

As Simon heard the word launch out, he obeyed. He knew that the power of God is in His word.  Simon perceives that his miracle has come.  He seized the moment.  This was the day of a divine visitation for him.  Let us pray: Heavenly father do not allow me to miss my day of breakthrough and divine visitation, in Jesus Name. May the good Lord intervene supernaturally in that situation that is weighing me down in Jesus. Amen.   Just launch out and stand on the promises of God.  Do not allow flesh, fear, guilt and doubt to stop you from receiving your blessing. Simon did not argue with Jesus nor flagged his degrees and expertise before Him, he just obeyed.  He knew that “to obey is better than sacrifice.”  Jesus is saying to you “launch out”.

Rise up and get out of your comfort zone, move away from the sideline, refrain from been a spectator and be a participant. Make extra sacrifice in doing the things of God and reach this generation for Jesus, through caring, loving and praying.  Accept Him as Lord and personal savior, if you have not done so. You will be greatly rewarded.
